The news shocked me with surprise that Prince Harry instructors told him that he is not suited to fly the chopper. Prince Harry’s dream of going back to Afghanistan has been shattered.
According to a Sunday Express report, Prince Harry, 25-year-old, is feeling somewhat downhearted after being told he is unlikely to fulfil his dream of fighting the Taliban in an Apache.
A source told: “He had hoped to become a top gun Apache pilot but he’s been told that the instructors feel he is not suited to the Apache.”
Instead the Prince is likely to be trained to fly the more sedate lynx when he moves to his next posting at the Army Air Corps base at Middle Wallop in Hampshire.
The source added: “Even as a Lynx pilot there’s no chance he’ll be returning to the front line until 2012 at the earliest.”
Third-in-line to throne, Prince Harry has served in frontline with British Army in Afghanistan. He was serving as a Forward Air Controller who is responsible for providing air cover for frontline troops. However, he was called back after news of his deployment leaked out.
Prince Harry served in Afghanistan for four-months.
